Spring runway 2015 shows highlighted several key trends. We’ll show you which winners to take to the track and which to leave for the fashion victims.
1. Bohemian Glamour
Boho is back. Put some flowers in your hair and take the diamonds from your neck. Dresses just got a lot more romantic thanks to the likes of Valentino, Dries Van Noten, and Vera Wang. Silhouettes were loosened for a softer, see-through look.
When taking this look to the street watch outs are overdoing the hippy element or making it look too evening with the ankle skimming hems. Transparent dresses are best left to the fashion models. Embody the boho spirit. Focus on looking natural and drawing out your individuality. Appreciate natural beauty, creativity and a romantic spirit. Move from the tailored shift dress to more flowy shapes to blow around the winners circle in.
2. The trouser suit with a curious twist
The new trouser suit focuses on the cute details, like the string and cowbell belts at Céline or shiny pinstripes at Chanel. Leave the power dressing at home, and crop the trouser line.
This look can shift straight to the track for a modern look. Pick it up and run, run, run to the finish line with this one.
3. Grown up Gingham
This season gingham covered everything from dresses to heavy coats. Embrace your Country Women’s Association roots and inject a little tablecloth type print to your outfit.
4. Smooth it out in suede
With a hint of the seventies, suede made a glam appearance on the runway in soft coats, A-line skirts, and boot-cut pants.
Taking suede to the track is somewhat of a dilemma as leather (and therefore suede) don’t usually go with Spring Racing. Either pepper it lightly or save it for the Autumn racing fashion agenda.
5. Do it in Denim
Dresses, coats, pants, jumpsuits in more finishes than Pharlap; from dark wash to lace-up, bedazzled and more.
To take this trend to the members stand for Spring racing leave the jeans at home and fit up in a tidy denim frock.
6. Power to the flower
Bold florals for spring felt fresh and abstract. Seek out your flower power and keep it big and bright.
Straight to the finish line for this top trend.
7. I’m with the Band
Saint Laurent to Gucci, Pucci, and Dior are Big Day Out-bound next spring with printed chiffon and roughed up lead guitarist leather jackets, baby-doll dresses, print trousers, and long vests.
Give the cutoff denim shorts and your boyfriends grotty wardrobe a miss. Give the baby doll dresses and some chiffon blouses a whirl instead.
8. Middle of the range
Upmarket crop tops and ladylike skirts showing off a flash of midriff flesh (a Kardashian go-to) were top of the spring dress up list.
Word to the wise if you dare to bare: Keep it subtle
9. Be on the Fringe
Spring is all about movement—shimmying down the runways were swinging fringe trims on 40’s style flappers.
For a unique stand out look at the races, this is the one to show you are the elegant fashion insider.
