Derby Day: Black, White & Chic all over

Derby Day is one of Melbourne’s most fashionable days of the year, sporting a strict black and white theme. The simplicity of monochrome makes the day a timeless spring celebration. This year we saw plain plains, lacy prints, sexy textures and dandy colour blocking making for perfectly pretty photos.

Here are some of the best Derby Day track side looks.

Rebecca Judd donned a classic, white Tony Maticevski dress finding power in purity topped off with an impressive crown.

Bachelorette Nikki Gogan wore a lacy in Scanlan Theodore frock and hot fascinator. The heat continued with the gossip in the G.H.Mumm tent of her alleged hook up with bachelorette buddy Cameron Cranley.

Raven black was back for many a birdcage fashionista.

The gorgeous Kate Waterhouse emerged sliced, angular and precise in black buckle detailed Balmain and a  Jonathan Howard hat.

Nicole Trunfio also rocked all black, Bianca Jagger style, in Maticevski for Myer at her day out at the races.

Jodi Gordon was flawless with a clean lined white silhouette with a beautiful bell sleeve and a white headscarf by Ann Shoebridge.

Jessica Gomes’ black ensemble by Carla Zampatti looked like it would take flight with mini wing shoulder detail but was kept grounded by a delicate net veil.

Jennifer Hawkins was panelled in pieces of black by Maticevski. Her simple gown was completed with an edgy Victoria Novak crown .

Julie Bishop channelled racing royalty with an elegant hat adorned with pure white orchids and a perfect basic colour block.

Bec Hewitt hit an ace with an elegant dress and mini veiled pillbox.

Finally, Megan Gale decided to bend the rules in a floral body hugger making us green with envy of her long stems.
